Dr FOLABI OGUNLESI MBBS DPhil MRCP (UK), Managing Director, Huntleigh Healthcare Nigeria Limited

Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, Folabi attended Government College Ibadan, King’s College Lagos, College of Medicine University of Ibadan, the University of Pennsylvania USA and Balliol College University of Oxford UK.

He is New Business Director (Nigeria) for Huntleigh Healthcare Ltd, a UK-based, global medical equipment and devices manufacturer. In this role he is responsible for strategy, operations and business development for Huntleigh in Nigeria in particular and sub-Saharan Africa in general. He has extensive experience in medical policy formulation, procurement, consultancy and the interface between healthcare Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). In April 2005, Folabi was appointed the founding Managing Director of Huntleigh Healthcare Nigeria Limited; a direct subsidiary of Huntleigh Technology PLC.

He also practices as an NHS Respiratory Physician at a leading London teaching hospital. His clinical area of interest includes the staging and treatment of lung cancer using endobronchial bronchoscopic techniques. His postgraduate training in General and Respiratory Medicine was at some of the most prestigious hospitals in London including the Hammersmith, King’s, Royal Free and UCH. He has carried out original research into aspects of host cellular immunity and was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) degree, by University of Oxford, whilst studying aspects of the molecular immunology of HIV.

Distinctions include the United Nations Silver Peace Medal; a Chevening Scholarship (UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office) and a Henry-Jowett Senior Scholarship (Balliol College, Oxford).

He is married with two sons and is an aspiring golfer.
